Alberto Contador together with Ivan Basso today announced the launch of their new bicycle A bikes accompanied by a totally new brand under a designated motto of passion, emotion and dedication.
The information was officially provided through the Gazzetta dello Sport which includes the Continental Kometa-Xstra Cycling Team, of which Basso is sports director for both Sub-23 and Junior.

We should mention that Alberto Contador was a Trek sponsored cyclist who ended his association with Trek-Segafredo on the 2017 Tour.
Like Contador, Ivan Basso is a former Giro d’Italia champion, from their time competing as competitors and teammates, Basso and Contador have become friends and business partners in the Bend36 brand.
The end of the Trek-Segafredo partnership
According to the Gazzetta report, the new bicycle company was set to take over the sponsorship reins of the Alberto Contador Foundation cycling teams, including the Kometa-Xstra UCI Continental team that had previously served as a power team for Trek-Segafredo.
Starting with an ‘A’, the full name of the new bike brand has yet to be revealed.
Basso, the team’s athletic manager, had suggested they have big growth plans that couldn’t be achieved with the Trek-Segafredo partnership.
Characteristics and details of the new bicycle from A bikes
The details about the bicycle and the brand are quite scarce, from Alberto Contador’s own publication in the three-minute video where the A bikes bike is revealed, it can be seen that it is a first carbon road model, totally light and equipped with disc.
It seems to offer a number of fairly traditional elements, including a round seatpost, raised seats, and just a moderately sloped top tube.
Also visible are internal cabling, a hidden clamp for the seat post and generous tire clearance.

Both two-time Giro d’Italia winners – Basso in 2006 and 2010 and Contador in 2008 and 2015 – the couple have worked together on various projects since their retirement, the announcement of the new bike is changing the signals for Trek and putting an end to their long relationship with the simple fact of having created their own brand.
Contador won the 2007 Tour de France aboard a Trek, and completed his career with the same brand in 2017.
On the other hand, the new brand that apart from the promises of passion, dedication and excitement, in addition to a well done paint job, there are few details about the bike.
